(No brand beanie, Metallicus black top, Zara jacket, TV pants, American Apparel socks, Marséll boots)
I bought this paillette beanie from a little random shop in Malaysia when I was last there. To be honest, I haven’t worn it that much because I was worried it looked a bit tacky, but it has really grown on me in the past month or so. It reminds me of those plastic shower caps with little multi-colour flowers all over them from the 60s! The gold pants are by TV; an Australian label that is no longer in existence. Their stiffness and shine make them look like space pants, which I love. With no give in them whatsoever and an alteration gone wrong (waist was taken in too much), these are only for nights when I don’t plan on sitting or eating much (which is not very often)… the things we do right?!

This post is not the timeliest of posts, but better late than never I suppose! As one of the last shows in the Perth Fashion Festival, the One Fell Swoop & Tané Andrews Peroni Privé event was truly one to remember. The work was shown as an installation piece as opposed to the runway format of the Festival’s other shows. Held at PICA in Northbridge, guests stood in the intimate space and watched on as one by one, the models motioned on to the white circular platforms with only the back wall lit, highlighting the laser cut paper hangings by Tané Andrews. Once the models were on their platforms, the lights came on to reveal the garments, with the models standing perfectly still.
New fabrics were developed specially for this collaboration. Digital prints were of new artworks the two designers and artist created. And in reference to one of the works from Andrews’ last exhibition ‘Time Bids Be Gone’ (in a previous post) portions of garments were submerged in a crystal growing bath; a technique Andrews’ has used previously with paper. After some time, crystals of varying sizes and textures grew on to the fabric itself, creating a unique and organic surface to see and touch.
I love these guys to death and was so happy to see them creating something so special together. I loved every second of the show. Congratulations to all of them on one of their best shows yet!

In stark contrast to the idea of the statement bag; I love the subtlety of the camouflaged bags in the outfits above.
