Wednesday night’s show was a first for Perth, with award-winning designer Alvin Fernandez of Ae’lkemi showing alongside two of Singapore’s FIDé Fashion Week’s leading couture and high fashion designers Michael Cinco and Sebastian Gunawan. The designs from Michael Cinco were the stand-out, his elaborate, yet elegant dresses were beautifully delicate and feminine.

I wore : Tsumori Chisato dress, Meadham Kirchhoff X Nicholas Kirkwood shoes and Chanel bag.

A couple of weeks into September and we are well and truly in Spring mode. For my first outfit post for the season I’ve tried to embrace lighter fabrics and colours. To be honest, I’m quite sad to see the end of Winter; I feel like we didn’t really get a proper one. And I didn’t get to utilise my heavily Winter-based wardrobe! Does anybody else feel the same way?

‘Apate is an exhibition of textile-based sculpture by seven emerging visual artists, masquerading as an avant-garde fashion label.’

The exhibition launched last Friday and will run at Moana Project Space till September 26. The project is supported by the Department of Culture and Arts through the Young People and the Arts Program; it aims to draw distinctions between art and fashion and questions the commercialisation of art due in part to the commodity driven culture of the fashion industry.

The exhibition showcases a range of limited edition garments and artworks. Some of which will take part in the WA Designer Installation runway show as part of the Telstra Perth Fashion Festival.

Tickets to WA Designer Installation are available > here.
