Last Friday night was Perth’s premier annual fashion fundraising event STYLEAID. Every year funds raised goes to not-for-profit organisation The WA AIDS Council, whose work supports those who live and are affected by HIV/AIDS. It has been seventeen years since STYLEAID‘s beginnings and it just keeps getting better and better every year. The theme for 2015 was GO GO, which revolved around the fashion and design revolution of the 1960′s with references to the Pop Art era, the classic 60′s paper dress, 60′s design icon Mary Quant and The Dolly Bird.
I love covering this event; not only because it is for a great cause, but also because I get to see the goings on behind the scenes and also see the entire show from the media pit – it’s a really fun night getting amongst it all. The designers and retailers that showed this year include Dilettante, Aurelio Costarella, One Fell Swoop, Varga Girl, Salasai, Monster Alphabets, Ae’lkemi, Yuuki and I Love Mr. Mittens to name just a few.
If you haven’t been to STYLEAID before, I really recommend going. You can organise an entire table for yourself and nine friends, enjoy a three-course meal, wine, fashion and entertainment and best of all, it’s all for an incredibly worthy cause.
