On Saturday 6th June, a group of talented local and national artists will come together for Cord, an art exhibition and auction to raise funds to improve the access to and provision of better technology and equipment for those who encounter spinal cord injury (SCI).
The not-for-profit Cord was founded by Mt. Lawley local Jocelyn Franciscus following an accident in 2009 which left Jocelyn with quadriplegia. This year, Cord has partnered up with Fiona Stanley Hospital to expand and improve their SCI unit. All profits raised will go to Fiona Stanley Hospital’s Spinal Cord Injury Unit and will support those living with disabilities to reintegrate into their lives and community.
Cord has already proved to be extremely successful, with the previous four series raising over $120K for the Spinal Injuries Unit in Brisbane! This is the first for Perth, and this year the art all revolves around the dual concept of disconnection and connection between the brain and the spinal cord.
It will be a really great night, and it’s all for an amazing cause. I hope to see you guys there!
