I was really excited to have been given the opportunity to represent What’s the Goh at StyleAid this year. For those of you who may not be aware, StyleAid is a yearly black tie fashion fundraiser event that showcases the best of local fashion, with funds going to the WA Aids Council. This year, it was held at the Crown Perth Hotel with over 750 guests attending. My favourites from the runway show were all of the Vivienne Westwood looks from Dilettante and of course, the beautiful pieces from One Fell Swoop.
Frustratingly, I couldn’t get the settings right on my camera during the parade so images are limited and the ones above are a little out of focus. Hopefully you will still be able to get a rough insight to my night. I had an amazing time and if you didn’t attend this year, seriously consider going to the next as it’s all for an incredible cause!
(Vintage Christian Dior coat, Louis Vuitton backpack, Alexander Wang loafers)
Every time I acquire a vintage item I always wonder about it’s previous life and owner(s). How did they style it? I came across this coat in a vintage store in Paris. I love textured garments so my eyes were instantly drawn to this large mass of green faux fur. It is a little too big for me, there are some bald patches and it is really quite heavy, but I really don’t care about these faults at all. I guess there are just some things that you adore, even if some of their parts are a little wrong.
(Comme des Garçons jacket, ASOS furry dress, Marséll boots)
An old friend of mine helped pick this jacket out for me a while ago, it is from Comme des Garçons’ Fall 2012 ‘Paper Doll’ collection. It is definitely one of my most treasured items! To be honest though, I find it quite difficult to wear. I think I attribute this to it’s shape, however the shape is what I love about it most! This ASOS dress (which I bought for $20 – excellent!) is one of the items I always wear with this jacket. I love how the textures and their shades of pink differ. Red and pink is also one of my favourite colour combinations ever!
