Dilettante‘s show was an excellent start to this years Telstra Perth Fashion Festival. I loved the minimal set-up. The white runway was illuminated by rods of fluorescent lights down either side of it. The bright light and white runway was reminiscent of their city store’s newly refurbished space. The stark brightness was a welcome change to many runway shows I have been to – it really gave us the opportunity to see the intricate details of the looks.
Dilettante showed new collections by designers Yang Li, 33 Poets and Toni Maticevski. Yang Li was first up, with the incredible Kia Low opening – the Australian model has walked for the likes of Dior, Chanel, Giambattista Valli and Louis Vuitton to name just a few. Yang Li was the stand-out for me, I loved the styling – every look was perfect!
33 Poets designer Rebecca Paterson is a Perth-fashion veteran. She really has an eye for amazing fabrics. Ethnic influences were evident in the collection, with printed motifs and embroidery on many of the fabrics.
The crowd was in awe when the models made their way down the runway in Maticevski’s dresses and even more so for the bold, billowy gowns – their big silhouettes looked amazing on the runway!
